Totally stole this from Lynda.

Now, before I do this, I have to tell you. I read all the time. I have a book next to my bed (ok like 9) A book downstairs, a book in my car, a book in my desk at work and when I am out, I carry a book with me. (hey, you never know when you are going to be standing in line, or eating alone when out shopping. I have even gone to bookstores to buy a book to have something to read if I forgot my carry book)

My credit card bill is – Amazon and I-tunes – Amazon – I-tunes, food store – Amazon, Amazon, Amazon. (seriously, it’s an illness)

Science Fiction, Fantasy or Horror?
Hmmm. Probably horror, fantasy, and then Sci-filfantasy last. I love horror and fantasy. Vampires, witches, werewolves. All three in one. Awesome.

Hardback or Trade paperback or Mass market paperback
Don’t care. Hardback is ok for home, work, car book. Paperbook for my carry around book.

Amazon or Brick and Mortar?
I am an Amazon whore. I like bookstores but I do most of my book shopping only line. Mainly because stores involve moving. If i am already out, I see a bookstore, I go and have my book list.

Barnes & Noble or Borders?
Barnes & Noble. There a reason. It involves me being a bitch to someone bitchier then me.

Hitchhiker or Discworld?
I don’t know what this means.

Bookmark or Dog-ear?
Both. I love a good dog-eard book- it’s loved and worn and nice But bookmarks, then the book keeps that new book look and smell.

Asimov’s Science Fiction or Fantasy & Science Fiction?
Fantasy and Sci-Fi. I don’t really like Science Fiction like Star Treky stuff.

Alphabetize by author, Alphabetize by title, or Random?
Author, then date order of when then came out. Ok, let me change that. Random, but authors are together, by date of when the book came out.

Keep, Throw away or Sell?

Ok, I would never throw away a book. I give them away to the library or used book store or good will. Or sell them at a garage sale.

Keep dust-jacket or Toss it?

Keep the dust -jacket- I use it as the bookmark

Read with dustjacket or Remove it?
See above

Short story or Novel?
Don ‘t care, as long as I like it.

Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket?
Harry Potter, and the last one is out soon and already pre-ordered from Amzaon.

Stop reading when tired or at Chapter breaks?
both. Depends on how tired or where I am.

“It was a dark and stormy night” or “Once upon a time?”
Either. Although, It was a dark and stormy night is usually better.

Buy or Borrow?
Both, although buying is usually the main choice.
Buying choice: Book Reviews, Recommendation or Browse?
Browse, although Amazon recomendations help

Lewis or Tolkien?
Lewis.

Collection (short stories by the same author) or Anthology (short stories by different authors)?
Don’t care, although anthology will give you a chance to discover new authors

Tidy ending or Cliffhanger?
both. if i like the author i will wait

Morning reading, Afternoon reading or Nighttime reading?
yes
Standalone or Series?
yes

New or used?
yes

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
She’s come Undone, by Wally Lamb. Best book ever.  don’t let the oprah thing scare you.  it’s a great book.  Read it in a weekend.  I have never hated a main character as much as I hated Delores.    But LOVED THIS BOOK

Top 5 favorite genre books of all time?
Romance, mystery, horror, occult/fantasy/sci-fi   true crime

Favorite genre series?
romance,  yes those bodice ripping, trash romances.   love them.   They are fun easy reads, which is great after work or during a break, or waiting in line, or a the doctors office.

Currently Reading?
Kill by Stephen White (work)

The Frumious Bandernatch by Ed McBain (part of a series, now defunct as he’s dead)  (next to bed)

I don’t remember the name of my book car,  it’s about a guy whose wife has a baby and then dies, and then all these people start dying around him and then he finds out –  the Death.   The Death.

I don’t have a downstairs book as of now.  When the tv season is over, I probably will.    What can I say, I’m a dork.   Tv, books, internet.    it’s my life.   So, feel free to click on the link on the right –  buy me a present, I’m very pretty.   It’s my Amazon wishlist.

  1. Cool meme, I’ll probably steal it.

The question you didn’t get, I can shed some light on. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams or the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. I’ve only read the former, but it’s basically a question of science-fiction-based humor vs. fantasy-based humor, I think, plus of course the individual writers’ styles if you’re actually familiar with them both.

Given your proclivities, I hope you have yourself an Amazon.com visa!

  2. I loved She’s Come Undone, too. LOVED it. If I haven’t already done this one (I’ll have to check) I might have to steal it, too.

  3. I love seeing what other people are reading. Once I had two library cards so I could borrow twice as many books from the library (limit is 8 per person). What kind of horror do you read? Lovecraft/King-type stuff, horror/fantasy like Rice, or something totally different? Have you read any of the Jim Butcher books?

  4. That’s a lot of books and I love lewis. Once apon a time I read books. You know, back before the short people took over.

and that is reason 4987 that I don’t want kids. You know I love them to death and hope to meet your kids soon (i hope, I hope) but I want to read when I want to read.

  5. You read like my husband does. LOL. He has a book in the car, in the bathrooms, in his work bag. And he reads them over and over and over again.

Oh, you read all the things that drive me crazy about his book reading. Another is that they never find their way back on the bookshelf.

I read some books over and over. I keep a book in the car, but I only read in the car if the Princess fell asleep or I am really early for something (which happens a lot) Books rock

  6. I read She’s Come Undone about eight years ago and hated it. But to be fair, I was pregnant and pretty much hated everything. I may have to reread it.

I, too, am a book junkie. It is a sickness. I could spend days in my local Borders (which I prefer to B&N because of the way the books are arranged).

  7. I just bought 4 new books yesterday of two authors I’ve not read before. I always have books with me too. If I don’t have something to read when I am waiting somewhere I feel a panic attack coming on. I even read at red lights. I liked Ed McBain’s books. Series books are my favorites. I reserved Book 7 before the clerks at B & N knew you could. I’m a dork too.

I draw the line at reading at red lights or in traffic, although I came close today it was so bad. Welcome to dorkdom
